7. The prize consists of:
* Attendance at and participation in the final judging meeting in central London from 4pm on Tuesday 27th January 2009 to select the overall 2008 Costa Book of the Year
* Attendance at the Costa Book of the Year awards dinner and ceremony with a guest on the evening of Tuesday 27th January 2009
* Overnight accommodation for two people in a central London hotel on 27th January 2009
* Return travel to and from the Costa Book of the Year awards event on January 27th 2009 for two people
* Winning book review to be published on the Costa Book Awards website (www.costabookawards.com)
8. From all submitted entries, 12 entries will be shortlisted.
9. The 12 shortlisted entrants will be notified either by email or telephone as soon as possible after the closing date, but in any event within two weeks of the closing date. Unsuccessful entrants will not be individually notified.
10. It is a condition of entry that shortlisted entrants are required to attend a meeting in central London on the morning of Tuesday 25th November 2008 at which the winner will be selected. This meeting will take the format of a Book Review Debate on the subject of 'Day' by A. L. Kennedy, which all shortlisted entrants must have read prior to the meeting - copies of the book will be sent out to all shortlisted entrants prior to the debate. Non-attendance at this meeting will lead to automatic exclusion from the competition. The meeting will be chaired by Joanna Trollope, Chairman of the 2007 Costa Book of the Year judging panel, and will also be attended by the Director of the Costa Book Awards.
11. The winner will be notified by telephone shortly after this meeting and in any event by the end of w/c 24th November 2008.
12. It is a condition of entry that the winner reads the five 2008 Costa Award-winning books before the final judging meeting on 27th January 2009.
13. It is a condition of entry that the winner must be available from 4pm on Tuesday 27th January 2009 for the judging meeting at the InterContinental Hotel in central London.
14. Overnight accommodation and standard-class return travel for winner and guest will be provided by the Costa Book Awards team or expenses reimbursed, as agreed between both parties.
15. No cash or other prize alternative is available.
16. The Awards Management reserves the right to refuse any entry for any reason considered justifiable, and reserves the right to vary the Rules and Conditions of Entry, and alter the published programme, as may be deemed necessary.
17. The promoter's decision is final.
18. It is a condition of participation that the terms and conditions of the promotion are accepted as final and the entrants have agreed to abide by them.
19. The promoter holds no responsibility for lost, mislaid or damaged entries.
20. Shortlisted entrants and the winner may be required to take part in reasonable publicity arising from this promotion.
21. The winner will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement relating to their involvement in the 2008 Costa Book Awards.

23. It is a condition of entry that the winner provides a license for the use of their entry by the promoter for a period of five years from the close of the competition without extra payment or other reimbursement.
